Job Description: General Manager

 Chattermark Distillers, Boston’s Whiskey House and award-winning craft distillery, is seeking a full-time General Manager to join our expanding and innovative team. The General Manager is responsible for the success of the overall guest experience, to include hospitality, service, events and social media. This individual will be an integral part of the team and will be a key player in guiding the vision and direction of the brand.

Essential Duties:

  • Promote education and awareness of our brand and possess the ability to proficiently educate and communicate our story and products to guests and clients

  • Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement.

  • Develop event concepts and themes that showcase the distillery and our spirit offerings

  • Organize and oversee successful execution of food vendors, festivals, live entertainment, farmers markets, tours and private events to increase brand visibility and awareness

  • Provide growth, development support, and appropriate challenges for team members

  • Create and manage social media postings using existing and newly developed content

  • Develop private party packages to enhance the guest experience

  • Hire, train, develop, retain and manage top talent for hospitality staff

  • Work collaboratively with production and sales teams to provide comprehensive awareness of business aspects and assist with new product launch, development, and evaluation.

  • Once trained, provide guided tours and tastings at the distillery

·        Ensure all events comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including alcohol service laws

  • Interview hourly employees: direct hiring, supervision, development and termination of employees

  • Ensure facilities are working in proper condition in accordance with Board of Health, OSHA, and Workers Comp guidelines

  • TIPS certification

Tech Requirements:

 Skills Required:

  • A commitment and passion to provide outstanding hospitality and an excellent customer experience

  • Emotional intelligence and creative thinker

  • Willingness to gain extensive knowledge of the art and science of the distilling process via in-house training and collaboration with the production team

  • A team player willing to lead by example and mentor team members to grow and develop

  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills with keen attention to detail

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university

  • 4+ years in the beverage hospitality industry with event management experience

  • Proven career progression with positions of increased responsibility

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with an ability to learn autonomously, willingness to challenge yourself, and confidence to be resourceful

  • Available to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, depending on events

·        Relationships in the local hospitality industry a plus

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, prolonged standing, bending, stooping, etc.

Job Description: Production Assistant

Chattermark Distillers, Boston’s Whiskey House and award-winning craft distillery, is seeking a Part-Time Production Assistant to join our expanding and innovative team. The Production Assistant is responsible to the Head Distiller for the production of our award-winning spirits. This position plays an important role in our production department and will allow this team member to participate in all facets of distillery operations. The Production Assistant is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing mash, fermentation and distillation equipment as well as the general working environment of the distillery. This individual will also be involved in the barreling, bottling and packaging of spirits.

The ideal candidate comes to us with experience in the distilling or brewing industry and is eager to learn all aspects of the business and perform all facets of the process. This individual will have ever increasing and shifting responsibilities as the business continues to grow as well as the prospect of full-time employment.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist the Head Distiller with day-to-day operations to effectively mash, ferment, and distill alcoholic spirits in a clean and safe environment

  • Raw material handling and organization to include proper labeling and storage

  • Monitor and document ongoing fermentations and distillations tracking proper metrics

  • Cleaning and sanitizing fermentation vessels, mash tun, still, hoses, and related equipment

  • Barrel and store aged spirits

  • Bottling, labeling and packaging of finished spirits

  • Operate machinery such as pumps, motors, boilers, and chillers

  • Sweeping and mopping floors, clearing and disposing of trash, maintaining clean environment

  • Manage warehouse needs to include organizing and accounting for inventory of raw materials and finished goods as well as loading and unloading of deliveries and product

  • Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement

Required Skills:

·       Strict adherence to safety standards, standard operating procedures, company policies, record-keeping standards, and all applicable rules and regulations to maintain safe working practices

·       Possess as strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task and adapt to changes in the work environment as well as adjusting to unforeseen delays or unexpected events

·       Consistently arrives at work on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance

·       Complete OSHA 10 Training Program and any additional training as required

·       Strong mathematics, analytical and problem-solving skills

·       Plan and prioritize work activities to use time effectively

·       Ability to accurately use laboratory equipment

·       Mechanical ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues if they arise and maintain basic facility maintenance

·       Participate in all distillery operations

·       Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis, stand on feet for prolonged periods, walk, maintain adequate vision (with or without corrective lenses), adequate peripheral vision as necessary for safety purposes, climb ladders and stairs, work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures and noise levels with reasonable safety accommodations

·       Ability to drive a forklift and hold, or be willing and able to obtain certification

·       1-2 years of industry production experience preferred

Job Description: Bartender

We’re seeking Bartenders for our Tasting Room Cocktail Bar to join our growing team! Positions are available to those that are self-starters, team-oriented, and passionate about local spirits and creating craft cocktails. As part of the team, ideal candidates will be eager to learn about distilling and how our spirits are crafted. This role comes with a huge opportunity to grow as the ideal candidate can assist with developing cocktail menus, and event planning!

Essential Duties:

·       Responsible for all aspects of bartending

·       Provide knowledgeable, prompt, and courteous service at the bar

·       Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences

·       Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere

·       Assist with distillery tours and tastings

·       Keep bar area clean, sanitary, safe, stocked and organized

·       Check customer identification and confirm compliance with legal drinking age 

·       Monitor customers for alcohol intake and comply with standards

·       Comply with company safety policies and requirements

·       Potential to assist with bottling and production duties

·       Potential to move to full-time as business grows!!!

Skills Required:

·       1-2 years of previous experience in high volume bar or restaurant

·       Available to work weekends and holidays

·       Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

·       Presents self in a professional and respectful manner with co-workers, customers and vendors

·       Maintain positive attitude with mature judgement and behavior

·       Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)

·       TIPS Certified and Serve Safe a plus

·       Must be at least 21 years of age
